My 10 Favorite Movies of 2023

For the last three years (2020, 2021 and 2022), I’ve published my list of favorite films for the year, and this year I’m adding what month I watched them (which will be relevant to this list).

In 2023, I watched 94 movies with a real contemporary and film festival focus (the oldest film I saw was a Czech sci-fi/comedy from 1977 called Tomorrow I’ll Wake Up and Scald Myself with Tea, which I did love).

Now for my 10 favorite movies for 2023:

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is great, but Harrison Ford just brings it all the way home.

#10. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)

Watched in June. I’m laughing that I’ve included this, but we love what we love! And as I wrote about back in July I love watching a film that calls a Nazi a Nazi, and a film that then lets our hero punch said Nazis. I can’t defend the ending scene which is ridiculous, but I will defend the rest! It’s so fun, and a true ROMP. And if you didn’t like it, and tell me, it only further fuels my love for it. A real catch-winnety-win.
