6 Ways Republican Voters Can Oppose the Biden Administration
Five years ago, I didn’t care at all about politics. My history of following big news stories was to be wowed years later by the biopic (“Wait, that’s what happened!?”). But then Donald Trump cruised down an escalator, became President, and changed my life.
Suddenly, I cared about all of it. I started to read the newspaper, followed journalists on Twitter, downloaded politics podcasts, learned the names of Cabinet members, figured out what the FDA did! Every day was a civics lesson.
It’s my hope that Republican voters follow in my footsteps, channel their frustration and disappointment over the next four years, and become active citizens in our democracy. To help them hit the ground running, here’s how I did it:
Step 1: Google Everything.
It’s easy to say all politicians lie, but it’s also lazy. Because many do tell the truth. The trick is to find out which ones are lying, and why. If you really like what a GOP politician has said he’s doing or has done — lowering prescription drug prices; supporting coverage of pre-existing conditions — your first instinct shouldn’t be relief and joy. You should say to yourself, “It’s too good to be true.” So, Google it.
